The ultimate driving machine?

I had a chance to drive a 5 series yesterday for a quick commute to Los Angeles and back.. I have to say that this car was the worst car I have ever driven.....

I thought that it would have been a nice experience driving a 5 series given that its a German car but I was way off in thinking so.

Let me start with the simple stuff like starting the car... Why do cars need a push button start anyways? Whatever happen to just putting your key in the ignition and turning it? Then there is the automatic shift lever. It wasn't as easy and putting the handle in reverse.. Let me just say it was retarded....

The actual driving part was even worse.... The throttle was completely computer assisted and there was no such thing as accelerating easy off the line... It was either coasting or hyperspeed....
Then when you brake, it downshifts and the brakes are over assisted which means that you lunge forward everytime you come to a complete stop...

The plush leather seats never got cold even though you have the air conditioning on.. This meant that my ass and back were sweating event though I had the artic air set to freezing... WTF?

Don't even get me started on the whole I-Drive bullshit system... It took me forever just to figure out the radio stations and that big knob that control everything was simply stupid....

The most ironic thing about the car is that is has the analog speedometer and a tachometer... What the point if everything else on the car is either computer assisted and most drivers don't know what a tachometer is for anyways... It's not like the driver will over rev the motor these days and I believe that the speedometer is only there for the "My car can do 160 mph" factor....

BMW... very dissapointed...

J30 on the way

Some of you may already know that I purchased an Infinit J30 as a possible 101 car.

So far, I have had the car for 3 days and I am already anxious to start working on it.

First problem-There is no after market support for this vehicle.... Solution? Make my own suspension...

So I started looking at the suspension and realized I had a couple choices. Go S13 suspension upfront or keep stock. I opted to use the J30's lower control arms and spindle.

After removing the control arm, I soon realized the strut housing was welded to the spindle. So what I ended up doing was cutting the housing and began prepping the to weld the coilover sleeve from a set of Megan coilovers onto the stock housing...
